New Idea 1, Holmes 0

WHAT a pity Jonathan Holmes and Media Watch will not be with us again until well into next year.

It would warm the heart to hear an old queen congratulate the queen-to-be on her happy news, and perhaps to say something nice about New Idea.

  1. Well, Bunny, to be fair to JH, he did make the point that No Idea had run with "Kate pregnant" about 10 times since last year. They had to get it right eventually.

With everyone at New Idea rooting for a royal pregnancy, how could it miss ?

  3. At least they are Married ,and unlike the rootin tootin alp slags ,both Wills and Harry are Gainfully Employed and Cotributing to the Common Good! Not Bludging on the Taxpayer ,like the " highly educated at Taxpayer Expence" alpwankers!

  4. Not sure I'd give too many points to the No Idea for this one. Yes, they indisputably had a news scoop, but they'd been crying wolf on this same story for more than a year leading up to their scoop.

The New Idea is one of the more reprehensible rags around. It isn't found in my home or workplace. This is the rag that was given an interview with a soldier on the front line in Afghanistan (Prince Harry), on the condition that the story not be published until both him & his unit had been repatriated.
Instead they rushed home & printed the story & photographs. They knew what they were doing, and the excuses given by the bints who ran the rag were vapid. "We didn't realise anyone would notice we'd broken our promise, and we thought only of our circulation, not of the danger to troops." (Or words to those effects).

Revealing the name & location of troops in wartime was once a capital offence. Especially when done deliberately, as a considered course of action.

The bints who ran the New Idea at the time should have been jailed for a lengthy stretch.

Actually they should have been executed, that is, blindfolded & shot to death by a firing squad.

    This is my considered opinion.

    1. And a pretty good opinion too. Letting any bloody journo near an operational military unit in the field is whacky in itself. Letting one at that unit and expecting them to honour an obligation to keep their mouth shut was pretty silly particularly with a "target of opportunity" as important as a Prince. I thought the Brits had learn't that lesson from the Falklands where the journos were in their "naivity" giving the Argentines almost real time intelligence. Cost a few paras their lives.

  5. I love the way everyone is going on about the next Queen or King. Talk about counting your chickens before they've hatched, eh Prof?

Never mind getting beyond the second trimester, then there's the fact that by the time the ovum has grown up enough the UK will probably be an Islamic Caliphate!

Not to worry! There's always asylum seeking in the colonies (unless the republicans have thier way..)

  6. If you keep randomly predicting something not too unlikely (like a young couple having a child) you will eventually get it right. I see these covers at work and they have a terrible hit rate - they just promote each 'hit' to an extreme and ignore all their misses.

  7. It is said that Kate became pregnant through IVF, and that she may be carrying twins. If this is so - and if they are delivered via caesarian - how is the hereditary order determined? Toss of a gold sovereign?
