Thwack!

THE sun is out, global warming is regaining lost ground -- and the first tee beckons.

Back after 9 holes to process comments and watch the Mau Mau and the Mormon.

Meanwhile, be amazed:

  2. Magnificent!
I've always considered a golf course to be a waste of a perfectly good rifle range.

Given the proclivities of greenies to plant out every space with native trees and scrub, golf courses are about the only places these days when one can find an open vista to enjoy.

Happy golfing dayz, Prof. Enjoy the rare treat of an horizon.

    1. If it is an horizon you want Lizzie then sailing is the go. Sometimes it is all you have and it becomes extremely valuable when taking a noon shot with the sextant. As for "greenies" the only ones you see on the water are the big ones that come over the sharp end of the boat and make you very wet. Bliss is a steady wind slightly for'd of the beam. Oh and no golfers.

  4. Two things Prof.
    (1) It may have escaped you, but the object of golf is to knock a small ball in a slightly larger hole - not to launch ack-ack at pigeons, clay or otherwise.
    (2) To celebrate The Age hitting a new low in journalistic standards by publishing a defence of Mussell-Man by Peter Craven, the FXJ share price went out in sympathy and also hit a new low of 37 cents, to finally settle 5% down at 37.5 cents. All this on a day when the general market went gang-busters ... up by 1%.

  5. Ha! And double Ha! Having missed more clays than most people I am confident in saying... "I'd like to see him do that again!" - apart from the Dubai location it looked like fun though :)

PS. If any of you guys were in the Middle East in the 70s and want a copy of Exit Visa just let me know.

  6. Off topic, I'm disappointed that you've let Fatuous Farrelly off the hook today; sheesh, mate.

  7. There is also the video where ex Formula 1 driver catches a golf ball in an open Mercedes sports car at 300kph, 275 m after ball was hit.

  8. Many thanks professor - excellent!
Your headline reminded me of an old golfing joke.
What's the difference between a golfer and a parachutist?
    A golfer goes "Thwack - F#*ck", whereas a parachutist goes "F#*ck - Thwack".

Ps: I agree with Amcoz's comments about Farrelly - little wonder their share price is heading for the 20c level
