Back Later...

...chores and errands, duties and obligations today -- to be followed by a few days in pursuit of fish and tranquility

Will be back to post warehoused comments later today, and possibly to post a bit as well.

But after that, the Billabong will go dark until early next week.

Shame the Bunyip won't be around to watch Tim Flannery float out to sea on his roof as Warragamba opens the spillway and the Hawkesbury floods.....

  3. Wishing you lashings of fish and acres of tranquility. We will all wait by the darkened Billabong until you return.

  4. Prof the rivers in the NE are flooding, low level at the moment but they won't make for good fishing for at least a week.

  5. Thanks, sfw. Just got off the phone with the weekend's nominated companion, and the your logic prevails. Suggan Buggan will have to wait. It was to have been her first spell in a tent, and mud, cold, leeches and endless rain do not make a good impression. The forecast for Melbourne predicts bulk Flanneries every day for the next week. This is the second time this year the elements have conspired against pleasure and a trip has had to be cancelled.

Camping with a river view in a five-star city hotel might be a good alternative, Prof. A packet of muesli and some milk give the appropriate tented brekky feel, eaten in a hotel cup with a teaspoon, while you both test wilderness experiences throughout the morning in bed with the 'do not disturb' sign up on the door.

    2. Last week the Kiewa and Rocky Valley were wonderful. Trout on crickets, grasshoppers as well as dry flies. We have had almost 200mm since the rain began on Sunday. I had been hoping to spend a night on the Upper West Kiewa but that will have to wait for at least two weeks.
